Care & installation

Proper installation and maintenance of rental-friendly wallcoverings ensure longevity and performance in any space. Whether you're preparing a short-term rental or a long-term residence, following these steps guarantees a seamless application and trouble-free removal when needed.

Substrate Preparation

Begin with a clean, dry surface free of dust, grease, and loose particles. For concrete or plaster walls, sand rough areas and repair cracks with a suitable filler. Ensure the substrate is fully cured and has no moisture issues—use a moisture meter if in doubt. A smooth, even surface prevents lifting or peeling over time.

Paste Type and Application

Select a water-based, low-odor paste designed for rental-friendly materials. These pastes are formulated to adhere securely while allowing for easy removal without residue. Avoid oil-based or solvent-based products, which may leave stains or damage the wallcovering over time.

Seam Handling and Alignment

Seams should be aligned carefully to maintain a clean, uniform appearance. For patterned or textured materials, match seams precisely to avoid visible gaps. If the wallcovering is not pre-seamed, cut the material to fit and overlap seams by at least 2 inches. Use a seam knife to trim excess and a seam roller to secure the joint.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Rental-friendly wallcoverings require minimal upkeep. Regularly dust surfaces with a soft microfiber cloth to prevent buildup. For spot cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water—avoid abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals. Wipe in a circular motion to lift dirt without damaging the surface.

Light Exposure and Longevity

Direct sunlight can cause fading over time, so position wallcoverings away from windows or use UV-filtering window films. Rotate furniture periodically to distribute light exposure evenly. Rental-friendly materials are designed for durability, but their lifespan depends on care—expect 3–5 years in high-traffic areas with proper maintenance.
